Ganapati
Atharvasirsham Chant
with
Sree Aswath
This ancient vedic chant calls upon Sri Ganesa for the removal of
obstacles. It is frequently needed! It is beloved for the beauty
of its intricate rhythm and tonal pattern ('swara') as well. It
is one of the first chants which Sree Aswath teaches in his classes
for children.
Yet this chant from the Atharva Veda has deeper dimensions. Sri
Ganesha is Lord ('pati') of that which holds creation together ('gana').
As "Ganapati", Sri Ganesha stands as a landmark and a
pointer to the Ultimate -- the ingenious solution of the ancient
sages for sending us toward a direct experience of That which cannot
be grasped through any description, definition or comparison.
| 'Atarva-sirsham'
means 'Atharva Summit', literally a high point of the Atharva
Veda. This chant, which expresses the wonderful qualities of
Sri Ganesha, foreshadows the elements of wisdom which later
unfold in Vedanta. |
